A Time to be Thankful
As we move into the American Thanksgiving weekend, let's give pause for thought about all the things for which we are thankful. I am grateful for my family and friends. I am thankful for my health and that of my family and friends and the care provided for those in need. I am grateful I have a secure job and a roof over my head. I am grateful that I can continue to connect with my family overseas. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve such a dedicated, caring, and committed community that puts health and wellbeing first. I am grateful for the kindness, understanding, and proactive approach of community members as we navigate the uncertainty of the virus and recognize everyone is doing their best to support and take care of the community. My list goes on and on and on.
By writing down what I am thankful for, I can refocus and maintain an open and constructive mindset that contributes to maintaining my emotional wellbeing. As you move into this Thanksgiving weekend, consider writing down the things that make you thankful. You will find this long list provides you with hope and strength to continue moving forward.
November 30th
On Monday, November 30th, we have our Practice Distance Learning/Professional Development Day. Further details can be found below under our "Professional Learning Journey". If you have questions, Leigh (MA-K), Diane (1-2), and Krista (3,4,5) are available to clarify expectations for hybrid learning from Tuesday, December 1st.
Student Voice
A key component of Monday's Professional Learning is our Student-Parent Panel from 10-10:45 am. You will have received an invitation to the webinar. Please sign up to receive the link for the Webinar. Our students are very excited to share their reflections with you. We hope you will join what is sure to be a powerful learning experience for all involved.
Self-Care
At the end of the day, Monday, we are delighted to have the opportunity to ZOOM with Sandy Elmers who will talk with us about 'Calming Our Nervous System'. This is a great way to recenter before you head home for a quiet evening.

All ASAs:
- Must not run on a Tuesday between 3:45 and 5:30 because of ES Faculty Meetings.
- Must be able to host a minimum of 15 students per activity.
- Must give a detailed explanation of the activity.
- Must be specific on what grades are accepted into the activity.
- Must be designed to meet students' needs and ASA goals.

The practice Distance Learning/Professional Development day on Monday, November 30 will serve two purposes. First, students will have the chance to try out their school iPads at home and experience the revised Distance Learning schedule. Second, teachers will have the opportunity to trial the new Distance Learning schedule, explore new technology (iPad pros, stands, and microphones), learn from a student panel on distance learning, prepare for hybrid learning to begin on Dec. 1 and engage in professional learning focused on our collective PIC Question, "How can we best support learning and wellbeing during a global pandemic?". Please see the schedule here for more details.
The Weekly Learning Overviews will go home on Tuesday, Dec. 1 with links to the Off Campus Zoom Schedules for each class. The ATs in each classroom will be responsible for opening their Zooms at the scheduled times to provide access to learning. The AT will be the point person for their students on zoom, ensuring that they can see, hear, and understand the directions. The Off Campus Zoom Schedules may be adjusted each week in order to maintain the times that students at home will most benefit from Zoom instruction.
