This week were offered the final outstanding 2022-2023 teacher contract in elementary. We are excited to have David Gocentas join our elementary team as the newest member in grade one. David is currently a Grade two teacher at Pechersk School International, Ukraine where he has taught for the last two and half years. David holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor Education, having obtained the latter in 2002.
David originally hails from Canberra, Australia but have spent most of my working life living abroad. David will be joined by his wife, Annie and their two children, Ella (17 years) and Luke (13 years). As a family they have travelled to many parts of the world over the last 20 years. During this time, David has taught in IB schools in China, Portugal, Laos and most recently in Ukraine. David has worked in the Early Years and Grades two through five and is keen to learn and grow alongside our Grade one team. My family and I are very excited about being part of the caring and generous community at AISB, a community that continues to directly support the people of Ukraine as well as the students, faculty, and families from my current school. I am keen to contribute all I can to the AISB community and continue to grow as an educator along the way.
Anett holds a Hungarian degree in assistant teaching. She has nine years of experience with children. Anett worked for five years in England, one year in the United States, and three years in Budapest. Anett currently works as a nanny for members of our AISB community and regularly substitutes in the elementary. She is excited to join our AISB family because of her connection to the community and her love of working with children. Anett can’t wait to meet with all of you and is excited about this new chapter of my life as an assistant teacher at AISB. Anett's placement will be announced once the other two contracts and six-month maternity leave are signed. We hope to complete this process next week.
We have been informed that Weebly is shutting down the educational version of their sites. As a result, Nate and Krista have been working with Michele to transition the Update and Mindset to Composer and Veracross. Over the coming weeks, we will begin the transition to the new platforms. Weebly will still be accessible should you require information that cannot be found on the new platforms. Please keep Krista and Nate informed when this happens so they can ensure the links get added to the new platforms.
