It is important that we maintain a record of student tardiness and absences throughout the school year. This requires teachers to provide a comment in the note section when marking students absent or tardy. The comment should explicitly state what the absence is related to. Please use the follow statements as they provide consistency for the Office Assistants and make pattern establishment more clear.
- Sick
- Pre-approved
- Appointment (immigration, dentist etc.)
- No communication from the family
~from the Elementary Principal
We are looking to set up an Elementary World Language Task Force to review our current practice and make recommendations regarding maintenance or extension of the program into the lower grades and maintenance or modifications to current offerings and schedule allocation. We are hopeful that we will have at least one volunteer representing each of the following areas: lower elementary and upper elementary and at least two volunteers from our encore team. In addition to these volunteers, the task force will include the elementary World Language teachers, the World Language Head of Department, the Elementary Principal and one of the Director's of Teaching and Learning. Please email Krista on or before March 1st, 2019 if you are interested. Thank you, in advance.

MozaWeb has provided unlimited access for AISB on www.mozaWeb.com beginning immediately through the end of the school year. Any teachers, who register at our website have to select ‘American International School of Budapest (AISB)’ as its institution during registration. Teachers and assistants may use all the materials available. Please do not sign your students up. We do not have permission from parents on our GDPR form. If we choose to move forward with the resource next year, we will add it to the GDPR permission form.
After registration, they will have access to the entire content library of:
- 1200+ interactive 3Ds
- 1000+ videos
- 120 educational apps and games, etc.
After registration, teachers can use the interactive 3Ds on their mobile device as well-
- On iOS, users can visit www.mozaweb.com and open the 3Ds from there.
Digital lessons
One of mozaik's newest developments is the digital lessons with an interdisciplinary approach. Interactive content items such as 3D scenes, educational videos, as well as tests for practice and revision included in the lessons, help process the subject matter more efficiently. Please note that this a project in Beta phase.
LabCamera
The LabCamera software is a webcam-based natural science, exploration and data logging software that allows teachers to carry out scientific observations and measurements by using a computer / Android device (iOS is coming soon). It puts science and nature into a new perspective, making natural science studies interesting and exciting and provides an instrument that inspires students to think creatively.

~by you
What are you learning about? Why not share your story with the rest of us? Share your personal learning experience with the rest of the team. Whether it is a book you read, a TedTalk you watched, a conference you attended, an online course, progress on your PIC, or reflections on a recent learning experience with your students, we are interested and can learn form you. Your reflections can take any form you choose (i.e., video, written, image, Sketchnote, etc). Take a risk and let the rest of us benefit from your experiences too.
Ashley was our first risk taker a few months back when she shared the her learning from the Math Job-a-like.
Thank you Leigh, for being our second risk taker. Take five minutes to listen to Leigh's reflections on her recent attendance at the Learning by Design Conference at the International School of Brussels.
~from the Innovation Team (Nate, Paul, and Vlad)
An important aspect of preparing our students for a future of productivity is knowing what tools to choose to complete a given task. Knowing what you have, when and how to use it are important. Understanding the functions of your tools and their complexities allows you to make the most out of your available resources efficiently.
One of the functions of our STEAM and EPIC rooms are to provide access to the tools that support our students' learning, and to provide the necessary guidance on how to apply them. We want our students to open their minds to infinite possibilities and support them as they work to realize their dreams. Innovation can't be forced, it can only occur naturally. What we do is set the scene. To do that, we provide opportunities (tools, spaces, and time) and intents (the what and the why). From there, our students explore the limitless possibilities of expression across disciplines using practices such as engineering and design. No thought is too big, no dream is too big. Dreaming is, after all, a truly unique human trait.
Have an article, website, tool worth sharing? Send it to Krista and share it with your colleagues here.

~from the ES Librarian
I hope everyone had a relaxing ski break and is ready for the next 7 weeks of teaching and learning.
I want to remind everyone how to access both the ES and MS/HS library catalogs from school or from home. Here is the link: ES/MS/HS Library Catalogs. From there, you can click on either ES or MS/HS Library and away you go! There are multiple search filters - keyword, title, author, subject or series as well as the ability to search on F&P levels (see image below, Reading Program). Not all books are leveled but you should be able to find a good selection of material for your students.
Happy searching and reading!
