Krista, Leigh and Nate are off campus on June 1st and 2nd at a conference. Karen R. and Shawn are in charge.
*Observe your students, observe yourself, observe a colleague.
*Take a learning walk with a colleague or two.
*Record (for sharing) your observations about the languages of thinking, community, identity, initiative, knowing, feedback & praise, and listening, as well as questioning and the cultural forces and the ways they support your learning and your students’ learning.
Prompts to consider (I.Q. Routine): I noticed, It supports student learning by..., It sends a message to the learner that..., I am wondering... Link to Eight Cultural Forces Questions? Clarifications? See Krista
Learning walks continue with Krista, Karen, and Leigh. Thank you for opening your classrooms to your colleagues as we begin this part of the learning journey. Thank you as well for the feedback on the pilot form we are using to share feedback about the visit.
KZ's PIC Goal: March - June 2017- Krista, Karen, and Leigh will go on at least one learning walk with every assistant and teacher.
KZ's Hope: March - June 2017- Every teacher and assistant will go on at least one learning walk with at least one other colleague. Please share when you do.
Parent Education- The Elementary PSA representatives have all engaged in a learning walk with Krista. The experience was eye opening while at the same time reaffirmed for them why they chose AISB and the incredible learning opportunity they have provided for their children as a result. We plan to include these walks as part of our parent education throughout the 2017-2018 school year.
Please remember to use the vouchers our PSA has graciously given us as a token of their appreciation. The vouchers can only be used until May 31st. If you did not use or partially used them, they still should be given to Szandi at the Building A Cafe on or before May 31st.
Today is Graduation Day for our seniors. The graduation walk is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm with the elementary school being the first part of the walk. Please see the maps below for the route. To help the celebration maintain excitement, please spread yourselves out along the route. Children are invited to make inspirational posters for our graduates and encouraged to cheer as they pass. Thank you for supporting our graduating class.
2016-2017 Budget Request- Last Day: Wednesday, May 31st
This Wednesday, May 31st is the final day for submitting budget requests for the 2016-2017 school year. Please ensure you have all orders in by this date unless you have received special permission from Krista and Klara for an extension.
Summer Work Orders- Due June 9th
All Summer work orders are due no later than June 9th. Please hand these into the office for approval from Krista and Judit. Please note, if you are moving classrooms, you must use the furniture and resources assigned to that classroom. Furniture and resources that belong to the school cannot be removed from classrooms without permission from the office. We need to ensure that incoming faculty are provided with the necessary resources and furniture to allow for a smooth transition. Please note that no major changes (BB removal, painting, large shelf replacement, etc.) can be made to classrooms this summer due to the large volume of renovations that will occur across the school.
Assistant Teacher Summer Job Lists- Due June 9th
To help with the assistant teachers' summer job lists, please fill out the “AT_Summer Job List”. The link will make a copy of the form for you. Please share your copy with your AT and Karen R. This form is for core and encore teachers to fill out to notify either your assistant teacher or an assistant teacher (encore) to help with summer jobs. Obviously, your assistant teacher will be here to help with your own classroom or grade level, however, grades 3-4-5 only have one assistant and encore teachers share one assistant. This list was put into place to help those teachers who are not always as fortunate to have someone help with their room, boards, inventory, etc.
End of Year Check Out Forms Available
'Faculty Check Out Forms' are now available. Click here to make a copy of the End of Year Check Out Form. All faculty and staff are requested not to begin summer pack out (except student work that will be going home) until after students have left on June 16th. Faculty may receive final signatures from their divisional administration after 1:00 pm on Friday, June 16th.
The End of Year Party will take place on Saturday, June 10th at 6:00 pm in the courtyard in Building B.
Spouses and partners are welcome. Please complete the RSVP Survey by Wednesday, June 7th whether you will or you won't attend. We hope that you can make it!
After discussions with team leaders who spoke with their departing team members, teams have decided to host farewells for their departing colleagues outside the End of Year Party instead of in the library before the all school event. Please talk to the team lead if you have questions about their plan for a departing colleague and wish to be a part of their farewell.

The Middle School are hosting their MS Sports Day on Friday, June 9th. They require the use of outdoor spaces to accommodate everyone. As a result, the track and the soccer field, the lower soccer field, and also the upper field are closed to elementary students between 10:00 am through to 3:30 pm. All ES students must play only on their playground at both recess times this day. They may not go down to the track or field. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.
