Nikki and I had the privilege of interviewing four candidates for the two open LFC positions. The decision-making process was not easy, which speaks to the level of professionalism and leadership capacity within our school. Throughout the accreditation process, many faculty voiced the need for more opportunities in leadership to grow their capacity. We are listening. Please join me in congratulating Judit Horvath (EC AT) and Fred Houillon (4th Grade Teacher), who have offered and accepted their first leadership roles at AISB. Judit and Fred will join Alycia, Karen, Kathy, Lauren, Maribeth, and Rex.
I want to take the time to acknowledge the professional, proactive, and reflective approach of this year's LFC team. These six ladies piloted these new positions for us this year. They remained engaged throughout the year, co-planning, co-presenting and supporting one another as they worked toward their key objectives while building their personal and group efficacy. They remained open to feedback, looked for opportunities to meet the needs of all involved, and modelled a growth mindset. They advocated for time (formal and informal sessions), the promotion of collaborative PICs, and sharing sessions so that we could learn with and from one another. Their dedication has strengthened our culture of learning and reinforced the role continuous growth plays in the lives of educational professionals.
Nikki, Diane, and I are responsible for ensuring accountability in the PIC process in the elementary school. We have reviewed everyone's PIC and are thoroughly impressed by the level of investigation, application, and reflection on documentation that has gone into the process this year. It surpasses the quality of the years past. You and the LFCs are to thank for the raised standard of excellence that supports the self-study feedback that we need more evidence of how our professional learning process (the PIC) directly impacts student learning. Thank you, all.
Rex Santos Transition
Next week (May 24-26), Rex Santos, your incoming Learning Innovation Lead, will engage in virtual transition conversations. Rex will meet with the Learning Innovation Department (Nate, Vlad, and Paul), Chris Zavits, Nikki Ellwood, Diane Glawe, and the Learning Forward Coaches (current and incoming). This is an excellent opportunity for Rex to gain insight in our context and culture while he builds his understanding of the role. Thank you to Erika for preparing the schedule and all who are giving up their time to support the transition.
Weebly Farewell/ Hello New ES Hub
Beginning next week, the Mindset will come to you via composer. As previously mentioned, Weebly is shutting down its education platform this June. The Parent Hub and composer Update have already been implemented. Please join me in thanking the following people for their feedback and support creating the new pages- Michele Tovaris, Nate Ruhter, Nikki Ellwood, Diane Glawe, Heather Macmichael, Kelly Meredith, Krisztina Készmarki, and Theresa Rekawek.
Senior Walk- Monday, May 30th
Our Grade 12 graduates will participate in the senior walk this coming Monday, May 30th. The High School invite teachers and students to be ready to congratulate the Seniors who will pass through the elementary between 3:05 - 3:12 pm. Graduates will enter by ES gym, head up the Art hallway, through to early childhood, and then up the stairs nearest Shawn's Office and head toward the bridge to Building B. Congratulations signs are welcome. If you make signs, consider our environment and save them for the fifth grade Bridge walk that will happen on Thursday, June 16th at 8:45 am.
Due to high demand (75 acts) we will have three separate Variety Shows on Friday, May 27. Please note the times and seating plan:

It was great to start the ASA spring program this year. Some of the activities that we hosted came from an idea given by our students. With this in mind, I kindly ask you to brainstorm with your class to identify what activities they would like to see next school year. Please, register your class feedback on the following ASA form by Friday, May 27. If you have any questions, please contact Gareth.
Next Tuesday, May 23rd is our final, in person ES Faculty Conversation.for the 2021-22 school year. We will celebrate the amazing professional learning that has taken place across the elementary via the PIC. Please join us in the MPR for a 3:45 pm start.
