Below are the measures (current and new) that will be implemented beginning tomorrow. To accommodate the changes, additional duties may be required. Diane is assessing the need and will be in touch with all individuals affected.
Illness
Any community member experiencing flu or cold symptoms must remain home until the symptoms have disappeared for at least 48 hours. Community members who develop symptoms while on campus must head straight to the nurse who will determine the next steps.
Additional Illness Measures
We will revert to isolating everyone in a household from campus if a family member has the following symptoms:
- A new and continuous cough
- Fever
- Loss of smell and/or taste
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Sore throat
- Diarrhoea
If you are unwell, please call Krista (Teachers) or Diane (ATs) and Erika and then email [email protected] with the details of your illness. You are required to obtain clearance from [email protected] before returning to campus.
Faculty required to stay home because of symptoms, but not wishing to take a sick day may work from home. Work from home requires attendance at all scheduled classes via ZOOM.
Regular Ventilation
We will continue to ensure regular ventilation of our indoor spaces. Please keep one to two windows open (6 inches only) at different spaces in your room along with your door to ensure ample air circulation.
Outdoor Learning
Weather permitting, outdoor learning opportunities are highly encouraged.
Additional Outdoor Learning & PE Measures
Beginning Monday, we will reinstate masks outdoors and during PE. PE classes will return to low intensity with increased social distancing. Students will be required to have an additional mask available in the event the original mask becomes wet or broken.
Hand Washing and Hand Sanitizing
All community members are expected to sanitize their hands each time they enter and leave a classroom. This also includes entering the building throughout the day. Washing of hands is required after bathroom use and before entering the cafeteria for lunch. If your sanitizer is running low, please email Judit ([email protected]).
Masks
Faculty, staff, and students are expected to wear fitted masks. Please remind students and colleagues that noses must be covered at all times. All community members should have a second mask available to replace their original mask in the event it breaks, does not fit appropriately, or becomes wet. Please discourage students from chewing their masks.
Additional Mask Measures
Beginning tomorrow, Mask Check Stations will be set up in front of each building. Magda and Szandi will run the station outside of building A and Brett and Peter will run the station outside of building B. All persons entering the building will be checked to ensure they are wearing correctly fitted masks. Students will be provided with an appropriate mask if the one they are wearing does not fit. Individuals wearing unfitted masks will be documented for follow up.
Cafeteria Use
Students will continue to social distance when seated at lunch (a minimum of 1 seat between each student and, at rectangular tables, students sit on diagonals not straight across from one another). Students sit in their classes, not cross-class. Geri and Istvan will continue to ensure ventilation in the cafeterias during use.
Additional Cafeteria Use Measures
In order to reduce numbers in the cafeteria throughout the day without impacting learning time, we have made changes to the lunch and recess schedule. Geri and Istvan have been notified of the changes and will plan food service accordingly. These changes impact time, location, and seating arrangements, so please read carefully. Grades 3 & 4 will move to the building B cafeteria until further notice. Their lunch time will still run from 12:30-12:50. They will require adult transition to and from the cafeteria. Grade 5 will enter the cafeteria at 12:50 so grades 3 and 4 should be heading to recess by that time. Seats will be marked with individual student names to ensure continued social distancing.
Grade 1 will now eat lunch in the building A cafeteria from 12:30-12:50 pm and have recess from 12: 55-1:15 pm. Grade 2 will continue to have recess and lunch at the regular scheduled times. Students in grade 1 and 2 will be further spaced within the cafeteria. New name tags will be applied.
Kindergarten and Multiage will continue to eat at the same time. Classes need to space out and use all tables in the EC cafeteria as well as the table in the EC kitchen.
Encore teachers will continue to teach core classes face to face. ES SLT will continue to visit classrooms where appropriate. Discipline issues will still be addressed in the Office.
All parents (including faculty parents) meet with teachers via ZOOM only.
Additional Faculty Social Distancing Measures
Faculty are asked to limit their interactions with individuals outside of their immediate teams when not teaching. Grade level teams consist of Core Teachers, Assistants, EAL and LS teachers. Encore Teams are based on discipline. Members outside of the core team (including ES SLT) will have to be ZOOMed in for meetings and conversations. Only immediate teams may meet together in a well-ventilated room.
Faculty across the school are asked to remain in their divisions. MS/HS faculty will return to entering and exiting through building A. Only ES faculty are to enter and exit through building A. Faculty children drop off will be initiated requiring faculty transition stations to be reinstated as needed.
Faculty are encouraged to social distance at lunchtime. Please collect your food and eat in your teaching area. Please do not crossover with members from other divisions or outside of your team (more information on this to follow). Where possible, faculty are asked to access lunch outside of the high traffic times to limit contact and allow students to access their lunches in a timely fashion. We recognise this is not always possible. Please use your discretion and make the best choice possible for your safety and the safety of others. When you do interact with someone outside of your immediate group, please document the interaction.
Work from Home will be encouraged for employees not in direct contact with students and who can effectively complete and manage their job offsite.
All interactions with faculty, staff, parents and students outside of your immediate team or regular group need to be documented.
Additional ASAs, Visitors, & Special Event Measures
ASAs and Visitors on campus are cancelled for the foreseeable future unless they take place during the school day. All students are expected to head home at 3:30 pm. Please make sure all your children are picked up or on the bus before you leave campus. Please call parents of any students not picked up on time.
All assemblies and special events are also cancelled. The Variety Show will be filmed one grade at a time and shared via livestream. Further information will be shared in the coming days.
